In case you have not looked into a mirror lately, you may be surprised
to notice that you are getting as old as the rest of us! Much as we hate to
refer to the subject, you probably have some aches, pains, what ever, that
{take the pleasure out of life and} impede your mobility. The Reunion Committee
is aware of these problems and is making a concerted effort to assure that the
55th is a more memorable experience.
You may recall there were a few
unforeseen episodes at the 50th that caused some difficulties. For example, the
angle of the gangplank on the dinner cruise was so steep that it would have
given a Nepalese Sherpa the shivers. Several people could not board without
assistance. The steps on the buses were too high for some. The false fire alarm
could have had catastrophic consequences had it been the real thing.
For these reasons, your Reunion Committee has made accommodating those
classmates, families, and/or guests with disabilities one of the key priorities
in our planning. This was one of the primary reasons for selecting the
Woodcliff Lake Hilton, the same facility we used for the 50th. We were pleased
to note that Hilton has upgraded and increased the number of handicapped rooms.
If you or your family/guests (hereafter referred to as "YOU") have any
special needs to accommodate Mobility problems, we want to know ASAP in order
to develop solutions. We recognize that such judgments may be a bit premature,
but making arrangements at the last minute may prove difficult.
If YOU
have disability concerns, please respond to the following and return with the
reunion questionnaire:
1. Will YOU require a handicapped room? Yes____ No_____
2. Is a
wheel chair required? Yes____ No_____
(Would YOU be interested in renting
one to avoid transporting your own?)
3. Do you think YOU can manage to
board a city-type bus without assistance? Yes____ No_____
4. Are YOU
able to walk short distances (e.g., 50-150 yards)? Yes____ No_____
5.
Are YOU able to climb or descend stairs? Yes____ No_____
6. What other
special accommodations will you need? Be specific! (Use back of sheet as
necessary)
Please list name(s) of those needing assistance and type of
disability:
